CO2 Emissions (lbs) = Fuel Used (gallons) × CO2 per Gallon (lbs)
Worked example
Burning 120 gallons of gasoline produces 120 × 19.64 = 2,356.8 lbs of CO2.
Pro tip: One gallon of gasoline produces about 19.64 lbs of CO2 while one gallon of diesel produces about 22.38 lbs. Despite better MPG, diesel emits more CO2 per gallon.
